Welcome to my passion - that is, to collaboratively work with families and schools to support children in developing their literacy confidence, skills and knowledge. The understanding that all children can learn is an important part of Lasting Lessons’ vision, and one of my initial goals is to foster a greater sense of collaboration with parents to improve the quality of literacy learning services afforded to your child.
My accomplishments as a literacy teaching specialist have included leading and participating on program monitoring teams throughout schools in Melbourne, as well as providing input into policy. I bring to the community a lifetime of literacy education experience from my work in schools, the community and the private sector, serving children with diverse needs and their families.

My expertise enables me to further explore the underlying reasons as to why a child finds literacy challenging. I then provide recommendations for instruction and remediation.
In respect to my qualifications, apart from being an experienced teacher, I have extensive experience in supporting children with additional needs. This expertise stems from the private, public and community based sectors.
I am in a very privileged position to dedicate a large amount of time in my working week towards exploring literacy programs, resources and pedagogy. I take this core role very seriously and my commitment in empowering teachers and parents is testimony to my endeavours in ensuring that all students are afforded the best of literacy instruction. I am able to explore, recognise and respond to contemporary professional research into literacy instruction.
I have travelled nationally to undertake public speaking engagements on strengthening school-family partnerships through literacy. I am driven by an absolute passion in supporting children in gaining literacy confidence, skills and knowledge.
